Augustan / Tiberian shield boss after two almost identical finds from Cambodunum & Kempten, wich was the Capital of the Roman province of Raetia until after the year 100.

Coming SOON, design awaits final approval.

All will be completed by a nice Mainz gladius and a pilum-metal-parts set after the Oberaden pila. First of our new objects will be a new Augustan / Tiberian shield boss. Pics below show one of the two originls from Cambodunum / Kempten, and the finished shield boss before final grinding and sanding. The material of our reproduction is 1.2mm steel, which is just as on the originals, and thus can be also easily bent by you to fit the curve of your shield. Top and bottom of the boss have a small ridge, where you can insert a wooden or metal spina. The originals from Cambodunum must have had wooden spinae, since metal ones would have been found with the bosses. This type of shield boss was very common from the time of the later republic to the mid-first century CE.
